Players aren’t the only things being traded in this offseason.
Hellos and Goodbyes
The L.A Lakers’ have seemingly traded Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and multiple first-round picks to the New Orleans Pelicans, for all-star center Anthony Davis. The trade won’t be official until July 6.
From the looks of it, Davis is gonna be able to wear the number that he wore in New Orleans. Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes says, James is offering his number to Davis as he begins his journey with the Lakers. Davis has sported the number 23 all seven years he’s been with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Blast to the Past
James has worn the number 23 for the majority of his career, including his time with the Lakers. Previously, with the Miami Heat, James wore number six during his four-year stint. He occasionally wears the number at practice for the Lakers.
Other Numbers in the Sea
If James’ should give Davis’ number 23, James’ most recent tweet might be an indication that he might be going back to the number. However, if James does not select number 6, he still has a whole wide range of numbers to choose from. All numbers from 0 to 99 are available for the Lakers. Retired numbers for the team include 8,13,22, 24, 25, 32, 33, 34, 42, 44, and 52.
